Sharnetta
"I don't want to be just a sound, I want to be a voice," says Sharnetta with a warm smile on her face. Sharnetta is a singer-songwriter with great ambitions to inspire and touch people with her music on a spiritual and emotional level. She longs for her lyrics and rhythms of her songs to resonate in the souls of her listeners. "If you listen to some of the greats like Stevie Wonder or Tupac they had a voice in all their songs, and I'm finding mine."
She is currently in a season of growth and discovering who she is as she walks with Christ. As she patiently waits in this slow transitional period between jobs she feels she must be still and listen to where God is calling her. When asked what was a difficult time in her life and what she learned from it, she recalls the time she moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma after high school to attend college. The first six months she was away she fell into a depression, as moving such a long way from home and her boyfriend at the time was difficult. "From this experience, I learned that there is a God."
She then recounts the time she was walking alongside a blind woman as they made their way to the college campus, when the blind lady, whom she did not know, began to speak a message just for her. "I see you crying in the dark at night. I'm here, and I hear you." "It was as if she was reading a page out of my diary."
