Elly
When I first sat down with Elly I was welcomed not only by her beautiful smile but by her warm and optimistic disposition, it was contagious. Elly is currently in a season of growth where she looks to find her purpose and calling. She is attempting new things to learn more about herself and her likes and dislikes. She has always been attracted to the medical field because she gets deep gratification in helping others and knowing that people in need have the same trust in her as she does in God.
While talking with Elly she recalls a time when she walked away from a car accident. “There are so many times in my life that God has given me second chances, so I feel God has a purpose for my life and I’m trying to find out what it is.”
When asked what piece of advice would she give her younger self, she replied “Really think before you make a decision and choose wisely.” At times Elly admits she overanalyzes situations or decisions and is hard on herself because she feels she has to be a role model to her younger brother and sister. I learned that we may not see ourselves as role models but we must watch what we say and do because we don’t know who is looking up to us.
Before she dies she wants to bring out the best of her loved ones around her, to give them inspiration, confidence, strength, and love.
After my short time with Elly, I left thinking about my own career path and ambitions and felt more compelled to seek an occupation where I am living for others and not for self-glorification.
